Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – The outbreak of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Bone Bolango Regency needs serious attention.
This is based on the numerous reports of DHF patients at the Toto Kabila Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Bone Bolango Regency.
Thalib Saleh, the Head of the Service Division at Toto Kabila RSUD, revealed a drastic increase since December 2023.
“There were 22 patients admitted in December. And in January 2024, there were around 28 DHF patients recorded,” said Thalib Saleh.
From the available data, he said, there was one patient who died and was detected to have contracted the disease caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
“Yes, according to data from the Health Office and the Surveillance team of Toto Hospital, one person died from Boludawa Village, Suwawa District,” he explained.
Addressing the issue, the Director of Toto Kabila RSUD, Dr. Serly Daud, urged residents to be more aware of environmental cleanliness.
“We urge residents to always maintain cleanliness, starting from draining water reservoirs at home,” said Dr. Serly.
“Also, to clean up puddles of water and use mosquito nets while sleeping. This is important to avoid the risk of contracting DHF,” he added.
Dr. Serly Daud revealed that they are currently coordinating with relevant agencies to maximize education about the dangers of DHF.
“We hope that residents whose family members are sick and experiencing high fever symptoms will immediately visit health facilities,” said Dr. Serly Daud.
“Especially high fever accompanied by muscle and joint pain, and the appearance of skin rashes,” he concluded.(*)
