Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – PPP legislator of North Gorontalo (Gorut), Matran Lasunte, acknowledges unique sentiments expressed by residents as he engages with them before elections.
According to Matran, the community suggests that elections should be held annually to expedite the realization of assistance programs and government promises, unlike in the years following or preceding elections.
“People say elections should be held every year so that planned aid programs and government promises are quickly delivered and realized, as seen now,” Matran stated.
The community’s feedback, Matran says, was conveyed to him directly as people took the opportunity to approach him with their views.
This revelation intrigues the PPP representative, indicating that residents have been monitoring and evaluating the implementation of government programs.
“This is a reality and an aspiration frequently communicated to me when I interact with the community. They suggest that elections, especially for the Legislative Election, should be held every year instead of once every five years,” Matran explained.
“However, it should not be construed as a political maneuver if there is genuine government program realization coinciding with the election process,” he added.
Matran emphasizes the need for providing the community with explanations to understand if the government is indeed promptly implementing programs and promises, both at the central and local levels.
“This is also a concern for the Legislative branch regarding its institutional duties, especially in terms of oversight, so that in the future, every program, especially those aiding the community, can be scrutinized,” he said.
“With this, it is hoped that the community does not have to wait for a long time. The even distribution of aid should also be prioritized to ensure uniform impact,” concluded Matran Lasunte.(*)
