Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – The entry of Sawaludin as one of the candidates in the regional legislative elections (Dapil) Gorontalo for the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) is intensifying the competition for seats in Senayan.
According to one political observer, Dr. Hendra Yasin, Sawaludin, who is participating for the first time in the five-yearly democratic festival in Gorontalo, could pose a threat to the incumbents.
He stated that almost every campaign attended by Sawaludin, which is organized by the PPP, is always crowded with residents.
“Every Sawaludin campaign is attended by many residents, coupled with the abundance of Sawaludin-related campaign materials. Starting from billboards, banners, business cards, stickers, T-shirts, and others,” said Hendra.
Therefore, Hendra advises DPR RI candidate contestants, especially the incumbents, not to underestimate Sawaludin, who is supported by the PPP at number 3 on the ballot.
“Sawaludin should not be underestimated by the incumbents and other candidates,” said Hendra.
Hendra, who is also a lecturer in Islamic politics, believes that Sawaludin has the opportunity to secure one seat for the PPP in the DPR RI. He sees this opportunity as quite significant.
Because Sawaludin’s strong sense of belonging to his community motivates him to strive for the betterment and progress of Gorontalo in the future.
Moreover, Hendra mentioned that two other PPP candidates could influence Sawaludin’s vote count. These are Fory Naway and Idris Rahim.
Fory, who is the wife of Nelson Pomalingo, the current Regent of Gorontalo, undoubtedly has a clear voter base.
Similarly, Idris Rahim, as a seasoned bureaucrat who has served as the Vice Governor of Gorontalo, is likely to receive support from many members of the community.
“However, everyone still has an equal chance of winning. It depends on the strategies and instruments played,” emphasized the owner of Curva Survey Indonesia (*).
