Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – Merlan Uloli once again makes history. Yes, previously she successfully made history as the first female vice regent in Bone Bolango. The NasDem party politician now etches history again as the first female regent in Bone Bolango.
As known, throughout Bone Bolango’s existence as an autonomous region, it has never been led by a woman. There was a female candidate for regent, Ruaida Mile. Unfortunately, in the 2010 local elections, Ruaida, paired with Haris Hadju, failed.
Merlan was officially inaugurated as the Regent of Bone Bolango by the Acting Governor of Gorontalo, Ismail Pakaya, on Monday (1/15/2024) at the governor’s official residence.
The inauguration of this disciplined figure is based on the Minister of Home Affairs Decree number 100.2.1.3-24 dated January 2, 2024, concerning the appointment of the Regent of Bone Bolango and the approval of the dismissal of the Vice Regent of Bone Bolango, Gorontalo Province.
She replaces the previous regent, Hamim Pou, who resigned to run as a DPR RI candidate through the NasDem party in the North Sulawesi electoral district.
Before becoming a regional leader in the easternmost part of Gorontalo Province, Merlan was a echelon II official in the Jayapura City Government, Papua Province.
She was appointed by the Mayor of Jayapura, Benhur Tomi Mano, as the Head of the Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil).
Merlan achieved many accomplishments and innovations while serving as the Head of Disdukcapil of Jayapura City Government. In addition to these achievements, during her tenure as the Acting Regent of Bone Bolango, Merlan made many sound policies.
Among them is the establishment of a special post for processing documents for the poor population in Bone Bolango.
Not only that, Merlan also swiftly utilized the Bone Coastal auditorium for population document processing for residents in that area.
Citizens are optimistic that there will be many pro-people policies that Merlan will adopt after being inaugurated as the Regent of Bone Bolango.
“Seeing the track record and policies pursued by Mrs. Merlan, I am confident and optimistic that Bone Bolango will progress under her leadership,” said Anton, a resident of Kabila Subdistrict. (*)
