However, he feels that Aprilia and KTM, which have been much more competitive, should not receive concessions this year.

As known, MotoGP officially implemented new concession rules to assist struggling manufacturers.

These rules were agreed upon by the MotoGP Manufacturers Association (MSMA) and the Grand Prix Commission (GPC) in Valencia, Spain, on November 23, 2023.

The latest system will still encompass variables like closed tests, wildcard numbers, engine specifications, engine allocations per season, and tire allocations for tests.

However, there are now four concession categories applied, distinguished based on constructor standings points.

Ducati Never Opposed Concessions, But…

In the new concession rules, there are four categories applied, distinguished based on the number of points in the previous season’s constructor standings.

The next checkpoint for calculations will be during the summer break in 2024.

Based on the constructor standings points calculation for 2023, Ducati (700 points) is in Category A, while KTM (373 points) and Aprilia (326 points) are in Category C.

Yamaha (196 points) and Honda (185 points) are in Category D. Consequently, Ducati is the only manufacturer not eligible for concessions.

“We don’t oppose concessions. In fact, we’re always willing to help. When a manufacturer is in trouble, it’s right to help them develop and chase the winning manufacturers.

However, I strongly oppose concessions for Aprilia and KTM,” said Dall’Igna via Motorsport.com, Tuesday (16/1/2023).

Concessions for the Sake of Yamaha and Honda

Indeed, Aprilia did achieve two victories in 2023, while KTM consistently disrupted the top-tier competition through Brad Binder and Jack Miller.

Such performances are not possessed by Yamaha and Honda, so Dall’Igna doesn’t understand why Aprilia and KTM deserve facilitation.

However, this Italian gentleman stated that Ducati ultimately agreed to these concession rules for the resurgence of Yamaha and Honda.

“We accept these concessions because we believe it’s more important to assist Yamaha and Honda than our dissatisfaction with the benefits gained by Aprilia and KTM through these rules,” he explained.

“If Honda decides to leave MotoGP, it will be a problem for everyone. To help Yamaha and Honda, we have to accept concessions for others as well.

That’s what we agree upon. If all manufacturers become more competitive, then MotoGP will be better,” concluded Dall’Igna. (Bola.Net)
