Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – Visiting several markets is one of the ways Gorontalo Governor Candidate Tonny Uloli assesses the economic condition of the lower-income community in the region.
He believes that the situation in markets, including traditional ones, is an indicator of the community’s economic activity. Markets serve as meeting points for people from various professions.
“As someone long involved in the business world, I understand the psychology of these traders. I believe that the activity in traditional markets is an indicator of the community’s economic movement,” said Tonny Uloli.
From his visits to traditional markets, the former Vice Governor of Gorontalo from 2010–2012 understands that there are still many things that need improvement.
“In these traditional markets, we directly see all the activities of selling by the community. Whether they are farmers, fishermen, or livestock breeders. That’s why I directly visit the market to clearly see the existing conditions,” said the man commonly called TU.
He believes that in running the economy through traditional markets, people not only need infrastructure but also need to regulate trade so that buying and selling can proceed smoothly.
“Therefore, traditional markets need special attention. Existing infrastructure must also be accompanied by knowledge of trade regulations. This is important because it is directly felt by our people,” Tonny Uloli emphasized. (*)
