Hargo.co.id – The Indonesian National Team will receive special support from the Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, when they face Japan in the final match of Group D of the 2023 Asia Cup at Al Thumama Stadium, Wednesday (24/1/2024) tomorrow night.
Erick Thohir hinted at the possibility of providing a bonus to the Garuda Team if they achieve a positive result against Japan, but he refused to disclose the amount.
“My presence is to provide more morale. I don’t like to talk about bonuses upfront,” said Erick Thohir at FX Sudirman, Central Jakarta, on Monday (22/1/2024).

“However, I prefer it if the result yields an unexpected bonus. I confirmed yesterday, I’ve already discussed that there will be a bonus for a draw, a bonus for a win,” added Erick Thohir.
“But, that’s not the point. Don’t let money be the main focus. Just like me in the PSSI, it’s not about seeking money. It’s about how Indonesian football can improve.”
“If you don’t have that commitment as the PSSI, then there’s no need to be here. The same goes for the executives. If the executives and I are seeking money, then it’s the wrong place,” said Erick Thohir.
Not Stingy and Calculative
Currently, the Indonesian National Team is in second place in the temporary standings of Group D of the 2023 Asia Cup. The team, nicknamed the Garuda Squad, has garnered three points from two matches.
Shin Tae-yong’s fleet won 1-0 against the Vietnamese National Team in the second matchday of Group D. Meanwhile, Japan lost 1-3 to the Iraqi National Team.
“I’m not stingy, I don’t calculate. Especially if there are results and of course, the government supports it. Full of achievements. God willing, if it’s good, then the bonuses will be really good,” explained Erick Thohir.(*)
