Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – The Patriotic Day on January 23, commemorated annually, is hoped to be more than just a celebration or ceremonial event. The significance of January 23 should serve as a spirit for all residents of Gorontalo Province, especially those in North Gorontalo (Gorut).

PPP Legislator, Gorut DPRD, Matran Lasunte emphasizes that the commemoration of Gorontalo’s independence on January 23, 1942, and annually thereafter, should be deeply understood.
“We can imagine that during that era, our predecessors with high spirits wanted to determine their own destiny, refusing to live under colonization,” he expressed.

With that spirit, the heroes stood shoulder to shoulder, fought, disregarding status, and united for a common goal, which is independence.
“And we continue to enjoy that independence until today. The spirit of struggle should be maintained and implemented by the current generation in various forms of creativity,” said Matran.
Independence has been achieved, but to fulfill that independence, it must also be realized in various forms. Whether it’s entrepreneurship or other efforts that essentially improve welfare.
“How the younger generation with their creativity can stimulate the community economy through empowering tourism potential, marine potential, and others,” he emphasized.
Thus, the current enjoyed independence will be more beneficial for oneself, the environment, and other communities.
“This includes assisting the local government by identifying what can be done, such as the issue of waste,” he concluded.(*)
