Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – A waiter at a restaurant in Gorontalo City, identified as IS (28) from South Kota District, Gorontalo City, was apprehended by the police.
IS was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the theft of a cellphone and some money.
The arrest of IS stemmed from a complaint by the victim, CM, regarding the disappearance of a cellphone and some money at a nightlife location in Gorontalo City.
Based on the report, the police immediately conducted an investigation at the scene and interviewed several witnesses.
“From the investigation, we obtained information that CM’s cellphone had been acquired by someone identified as WIY. According to WIY’s confession, the phone was purchased from IS,” explained the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Gorontalo City Police, Kompol Leonardo Widharta.
“It’s quite unique, IS is actually a close friend of the victim,” Leonardo added briefly.
Meanwhile, after obtaining IS’s identity, the police apprehended IS, who worked as a waiter at a restaurant in Gorontalo City.
“From the initial interrogation, IS admitted to taking the phone and 450,000 in cash from the chair where CM was sitting, while they were together at a nightlife venue,” said Kompol Leonardo.
“For now, we have handed over the perpetrator to the investigators, along with the stolen items, for further legal proceedings,” he concluded.(*)
