Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – Dozens of Gorontalo University (UG) students staged a protest at the Gorontalo Regency DPRD building on Tuesday (12/5/2023).
As observed by this media, the protesters began their action beneath the Limboto tower, entered the DPRD office grounds, and requested dialogue.
However, the leadership was not present. The demonstrators then forced entry and set fire to tires in the building’s courtyard.
In their speech, they demanded that the Gorontalo Regency DPRD recommend the removal of the Telaga Health Center Head.
According to them, the Telaga Health Center Head should be dismissed from the position for negligence that resulted in a patient’s death.
“We urge the DPRD to recommend the removal of the Telaga Health Center Head,” emphasized one speaker in his speech.
“We believe that the Telaga Health Center Head has been negligent or intentional, leading to a patient’s death,” said another speaker.
The demonstrators stressed that incidents of patient deaths due to negligence by staff were not the first to occur under the Telaga Health Center Head.
During the previous tenure as the Pulubala Health Center Head, the same thing happened, they said.
“We ask the DPRD to take this issue seriously. This is to minimize similar incidents affecting the people of Gorontalo Regency,” the speaker emphasized.
Meanwhile, Nasir Potale, Chairman of the Democrat Faction, who received the protesters, affirmed that the Gorontalo Regency DPRD had responded by conducting a direct investigation into the Telaga Health Center.
“Commission III has conducted an investigation by directly visiting the Telaga Health Center,” said Nasir.
“The findings indicate that we, Commission III, suspect negligence on the part of the Telaga Health Center,” Nasir emphasized.
He also promised to convey all the students’ aspirations directly to the Chairman of the Gorontalo Regency DPRD, Syam T. Ase.
“We will also ask the DPRD Chairman to immediately hold a hearing (RDP) on this matter,” he said.
In the RDP, Nasir said they would bring in the Telaga Health Center Head, the BKPSDM (Regional Personnel Agency), the Legal Department, and the Health Office.
The DPRD, Nasir continued, would also invite the victim’s family and students to attend the RDP.
“The RDP agenda will hopefully be held on Thursday (12/7/2023). The Democrat Faction will consistently support the students’ aspirations,” Nasir concluded. (*)
