Urine Test Reveals Positive Result for Inmate at Pohuwato Prison

Hargo.co id, GORONTALO – One inmate from Class IIb Pohuwato Prison tested positive after undergoing a urine test conducted by Class IIb Pohuwato Prison in collaboration with the Pohuwato District Narcotics Agency (BNK) on Thursday evening (28/12/2023).

Previously, 25 inmates from Pohuwato Prison underwent a series of routine examinations, including urine tests that started from 22:00 Wita until 00:10 Wita. During the test, one inmate was declared positive.

Yuyun Patuna, Secretary of the Pohuwato Narcotics Agency, explained that the urine test was randomly conducted on 25 residents of Pohuwato Prison, consisting of detainees involved in drug abuse cases and general criminal detainees.

“One person tested positive,” Yuyun stated.

However, during further examination, the individual, according to Yuyun, admitted to frequently consuming sleeping pills.

“But according to his statement, he tested positive because he always takes sleeping pills,” he added.

He also emphasized that this activity is a commitment from Pohuwato Prison and BNK Pohuwato in the effort to Prevent, Eradicate, and Combat the Abuse and Trafficking of Narcotics (P4GN) among the residents of Pohuwato Prison.

“Our commitment is prevention, and one way to do it is by conducting urine tests,” he said.

Not stopping there, he asserted that routine examinations will continue as part of the efforts to prevent the spread and abuse of narcotics.

“It will indeed be consistently done. The goal is to prevent usage and dissemination among fellow inmates,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Irman Jaya, Head of Class II B Pohuwato Prison, conveyed that they continue to collaborate with BNK Pohuwato and other relevant agencies in addressing the narcotics issue within the jurisdiction of Class II Pohuwato Prison.

“We will continue to cooperate, whether with law enforcement agencies or the Pohuwato Narcotics Agency, to ensure preventive measures against narcotics are consistently implemented, especially in Class II B Pohuwato Prison,” he stated. (*)
