Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – After a month on the run, FYD (35), the mastermind behind the embezzlement of rental cars in Gorontalo, has finally been apprehended by the police.
FYD, who was listed as a wanted person (DPO) by the Gorontalo City Police, was captured by the Minahasa Regional Police Opsnal team in Remboken Village on Sunday (14/1/2024) around 18:30 Wita.
According to gathered information, the perpetrator was arrested along with an accomplice identified as RD while conducting a vehicle transaction after fleeing from the Gorontalo area.
According to the police statement, FYD’s capture originated from the issuance of a DPO by the Gorontalo City Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim), which was then coordinated with the National Mobile Investigation Unit (Resmob) Nusantara.
Consequently, when attempting the transaction, the police detected FYD’s whereabouts in Minahasa.
“The suspect happened to be monitored intending to carry out a car transaction with characteristics matching those mentioned in the DPO, and the evidence seized was identical to the items listed in the DPO.
Subsequently, the Minahasa Regional Police Mobile Investigation Unit (resmob) arrested FYD, who was at that time with RD, planning to carry out the sale of criminally obtained vehicles,” stated Kompol Leonardo Widharta, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Gorontalo City Police.
Following the apprehension, the task force and investigators immediately headed to the Minahasa Regional Police to pick up the suspects for further legal proceedings.
Upon arrival in Gorontalo, the perpetrator underwent an examination at the UPPA (Police Psychological and Physical Test Unit) of Gorontalo City Police. The investigation revealed that FYD was the mastermind behind the sale of the stolen vehicles.
“Because the perpetrator has been proven guilty, we are charging him under Article 480 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code concerning receivers, with a penalty of up to 4 years in prison,” concluded Kompol Leonardo. (*)
