Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – The new building of Gorontalo City’s central market is expected to provide additional income for the sellers in the area.
The Gorontalo City Government hopes that the renovation of the building will provide comfort for buyers to come and shop.
However, this expectation is not felt by Yanto (46), who works as a shoe repairer in the Gorontalo Central Market.
“Income has decreased because visitors are very scarce. After the Central Market was inaugurated, visitors are still very few,” said Yanto on Wednesday (13/12/2023).
Before the Central Market was inaugurated, Yanto claimed that his income could reach Rp 200,000 per day.
“The cost of repairing one shoe is Rp 20,000. In the past, there were usually 7 to 10 people who came, now it’s much less,” he said.
According to him, this is because his stall now occupies a less strategic position compared to his previous location.
“If my current location is not well-known to visitors. So after being moved to this place, my income has decreased,” he explained.
Yanto admitted that since the inauguration of the Central Market, only one or two people come to his stall. Sometimes, there are none at all.
“Our hope to the government is, if possible, place our stalls in a strategic location, so that our income also increases. The current location is very quiet,” he said.(*)
