Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – A mother in Gorontalo, identified as MB (22), has been apprehended by the Gorontalo City Police Resort (Polresta) due to suspicions of abusing her six-year-old stepchild, resulting in injuries to various parts of the child’s body.
MB’s actions were allegedly triggered by a trivial issue. According to MB’s statement to the police, the perpetrator became upset with the child for taking food from the cupboard.
However, the alleged perpetrator claimed that the food did not only belong to them but also to other residents of the house.
The incident gained attention on social media, particularly on Facebook, after the child’s teacher noticed the injuries when the child arrived at school.
A video circulating on social media, shared multiple times, shows a child with injuries on the back, ear, and left cheek as a result of the abuse.
Meanwhile, the biological mother of the unfortunate child is currently in Manado, North Sulawesi.
According to Commissioner Leonardo Widharta, the head of criminal investigations, his team is handling the suspected case of violence against the underage child.”The PPA unit is still investigating; we are delving into the facts of the incident,” said Commissioner Leonardo.
Leonardo also confirmed that the suspected perpetrator, identified as the stepmother with the initials MB (22), has been detained in the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) room of the Gorontalo City Criminal Investigation Unit.
“At present, the stepmother and biological father are still in the PPA room for examination and investigation, while the child, who is the victim, has been placed in a shelter owned by the P2PA Provincial Department in Gorontalo,” concluded Commissioner Leonardo.(*)
