Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – Defendants in the Pohuwato Regency riot case began their first trial in the corruption court (Tipikor) at the District Court (PN) Gorontalo on Tuesday (9/1/2024).
The trial, which involves 35 defendants related to the Marisa mine riot and the burning of the Pohuwato Regent’s office, is led by the Chairman of the panel, Achmad Peten Sili, and Members, Hamka, SH MH, and Muammar Maulis K, SH MH.
Bayu Lesmana Taruna, JUDGE and Spokesperson for the District Court/Tipikor and Industrial Hub Gorontalo 1A, explained that the 35 defendants would undergo trial with the agenda of reading the indictment.
“Today is the indictment,” said Bayu Lesmana.
For the next trial agenda, Bayu Lesmana mentioned that the defendants would undergo a plea hearing if they submit objections.
“Plea hearing (if any) from the legal counsel for the defendants,” added Bayu.
Meanwhile, in the observation of Hargo.co.id, only 34 defendants attended the first trial, with one defendant absent due to health reasons.
Not only the defendants but also several family members and relatives of the defendants were present in the trial. Several police personnel were deployed to secure the proceedings. (*)
