Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – The institutionalized oversight function will continue to be maximized, even as 2024 marks the final year of service for the legislative members (Aleg) in the North Gorontalo Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD Gorut).
DPRD Gorut Chairman, Deasy S.M Datau, responding to the upcoming end of the legislators’ term in 2024, stated that it is not a problem.
“Indeed, every position will have its end, and 2024 is the year of service for the 2019-2024 period, and certainly, our duties will continue to be carried out as mandated,” said Deasy.
For the Chairman of the PDIP Gorut DPC, being a legislator is not an easy task. Contrary to the common perception that being a member of the DPRD is prestigious and the like, there is a duty as a representative of the people to voice and realize their aspirations.
“People may only see that being a DPRD member is prestigious, respected, and so on. But behind all that, there is a duty as representatives entrusted to each representative to voice and realize,” she explained.
The realization is not a mere authority, but the DPRD has the access to oversee how the aspirations of the people can be realized.
“The budgeting function is in the DPRD, so as legislators, we can identify which aspirations can be realized and which cannot.
For the rest, in ensuring the implementation of these programs, there is an institutionalized oversight function that can be outlined through each commission that has its working partners,” Deasy emphasized.
Similarly, with evaluations and other authorities held institutionally, when utilized to the maximum, it can maximize the duties and responsibilities as representatives of the people.
“And this will certainly continue until the end of the term. Since the beginning of serving as representatives, the community has entrusted each representative to sit and be their representative,
so we who sit must reciprocate by working as diligently as possible according to our duties and the regulations in place,” she concluded.(*)
