Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – The solar-powered wells constructed by the river basin to assist farmers with irrigation are now being complained about by residents in Helumo Village, Mootilango Subdistrict, Gorontalo Regency.

This complaint was conveyed by residents to the legislative member (Aleg) of the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) of Gorontalo Regency, Syarifudin Bano.
According to Syarifudin, based on the information provided by residents to him, the solar-powered well that irrigates the rice fields in Helumo Village, precisely on the border between Helumo Village and Sukamaju in Mootilango Subdistrict, has not been functioning for three months.

“This solar-powered well uses solar energy, and its panel is damaged due to being struck by lightning, resulting in farmers’ harvest failure,” said Syarifudin.
The complaint about the damaged solar-powered well, according to Syarifudin, has not only been conveyed to him but has also been reported to the river basin, but there has been no follow-up. However, residents are eagerly anticipating irrigation from this solar-powered well.
“As the chairman of commission I, which deals with agriculture among others, I request immediate follow-up action,” hoped this Democratic Party politician.
“Because currently, farmers in Mootilango Subdistrict have completed the rice planting process, and some rice has reached one to two months old and needs water, while the solar-powered well is no longer functioning. However, its damage is only to the panel,” emphasized Syarifudin.
He also added that they have contacted the river basin and hope to receive prompt realization, attention, and serious handling.
“Hopefully, this will be promptly followed up so that farmers do not experience harvest failure again,” concluded this Aleg from the Boliyohuto constituency.(*)
