Worse still, when asked about the owner of the heavy equipment, the community explained that the owner is a businessman from Kotamobagu, North Sulawesi.
“The one who owns these machines is from Kotamobagu,” said the resident.
Furthermore, residents admitted that the fuel used to operate the heavy equipment in the mining area is taken from several gas stations, including the Randangan gas station and others outside the Pohuwato Regency.
The Taluditi mining activities were also confirmed by the Mekarti Jaya Village Government, as stated by the Deputy Village Chief of Mekarti Jaya, Ngadiono. He often sees these machines passing through Mekarti Jaya Village roads.
“Indeed, the machines pass through the roads of Mekarti Jaya Village,” he said.
Despite causing casualties, illegal activities in Taluditi District have not been addressed. In fact, some residents feel that the perpetrators are unaffected. (*)
