The symbolic handover took place during the rice seed planting activity to support the expansion of cultivation areas in Bone Bolango Regency, in North Oluhuta Village, Kabila Subdistrict, on Tuesday (12/12/2023).

“Alhamdulillah, we should be grateful in the face of our very limited regional financial conditions, but aid continues to flow, both for the poor and for farmers. Today, we are handing over eight tons of rice seeds and 15 tons of hybrid corn,” said Merlan.

Merlan expressed hope that the aid he provided could be utilized effectively by farmers to produce quality rice and corn, especially given the current rise in rice prices.

“This depends on the farmers themselves. I hope the Department of Food Security and Agriculture (DKPP) will continue to supervise and support so that these farmers can achieve satisfying harvest results as we all hope for,” added Merlan Uloli.

Previously, the Head of DKPP Bone Bolango Regency, Yusbar Ismail, explained that the rice seed planting activity, combined with the distribution of rice and hybrid corn seed aid, aims to support the acceleration of rice and corn cultivation expansion.

According to him, since the new Minister of Agriculture’s leadership, the acceleration of cultivation expansion has been reinvigorated nationwide, including in Bone Bolango.

“So, the step we take today, seeding rice seeds and delivering rice and corn seed aid simultaneously, is the right one. Insha’Allah, with this seed aid, the enthusiasm of farmers to carry out agricultural activities will continue to burn,” said Yusbar Ismail.
