Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – Nasi kucing (cat rice) remains the most sought-after food by the people of Gorontalo City when hunger strikes at night.
The food, widely sold in various areas of Gorontalo City, is named “nasi kucing” because of its small portions, similar to a cat’s meal.
According to observations by this media outlet on Jenderal Sudirman Street, precisely in front of the main gate of UNG’s first campus, there is a stall selling nasi kucing that attracts many customers.
Aprianto Ladjo (20), an employee who manages the nasi kucing stall, mentioned that the food is in demand among various groups.
“There are children, students, and even adults who are usually hungry when returning from work,” he told the media on Sunday (10/12/2023).
Unlike other nasi kucing vendors who already wrap and measure the portions, this particular vendor employs a concept similar to a buffet.
“We open in the evening, usually from 4:00 PM WITA until the dawn call to prayer,” he said.
A resident of Kabila District, Aprianto Ladjo, stated that the stall he manages has been selling nasi kucing for approximately nine months.
“The price depends on the chosen side dishes; for chicken and meat, it is priced at IDR 10,000 to IDR 15,000, while other options may be IDR 5,000,” said Aprianto Ladjo.
From these sales, the revenue generated is quite substantial. Aprianto Ladjo claimed to achieve a daily revenue of up to IDR 3.5 million.
This amount, if totaled monthly, can reach one hundred million rupiahs.(*)
