Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – A total of 24,773 polling station officers (KPPS) were officially inaugurated on Thursday (25/1/2024) last week.
Tens of thousands of KPPS were inaugurated by each polling station committee (PPS) chairperson in each region of Gorontalo Province.
Interestingly, out of the 24,773 inaugurated KPPS, one KPPS has attracted public attention. He is Salahudin Pakaya, SH, former Chairperson of Boalemo KPU.
Salahudin was inaugurated as the Chairperson of KPPS at Polling Station 13, Heledulaa Utara Sub-district, East City District, Gorontalo City.
When contacted by the media, Salahudin admitted that he chose to be a KPPS in the 2024 general elections because he wanted to serve the country.
“Besides, I also want to contribute to the success of this year’s simultaneous elections,” said Salahudin.
Salahudin emphasized that he feels more honored to be a KPPS. According to him, KPPS is the spearhead of the election administration.
“I don’t feel uncomfortable with this position. On the contrary, I feel more honored. Remember, KPPS is the spearhead of the success of an election,” Salahudin asserted and added that to become a KPPS, he followed all stages and mechanisms.
“From registration, interviews, and other stages, I followed,” said Sahaludin, who is currently completing his thesis stage on the dispute over elections between organizers, participants, and the public at the UNG Postgraduate Program.
At the end of the interview, Salahudin advised all KPPS in Gorontalo never to be afraid to carry out their duties and functions (Tupoksi). If there is any intervention, he is ready to provide protection.
“Never be afraid if there are election participants who intimidate. I am ready to stand in front of KPPS colleagues to fight against intimidation,” he emphasized.
“God willing, in the near future, I will communicate with all KPPS in Gorontalo online. I will provide reinforcement to them,” said the figure who has long been involved in the electoral field.
So, will only KPPS be protected? What about election supervisors at the village level, will they be given protection? Salahudin emphasized that if needed, he is ready to provide the same protection. (*)
