Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – The commemoration of Orphan Day will still be held by the Bone Bolango Regency Government. However, the timing is not in January, as in previous years.
Acting Regent of Bone Bolango, Merlan Uloli, emphasized that Orphan Day is generally commemorated on National Children’s Day, which falls in July.
In the same month, Merlan said, the commemoration of 10 Muharram, which is considered the best day to provide assistance to orphans, is observed.
“So, we intentionally explain this so that it is known to everyone, including sub-district heads and OPD leaders, so that it does not become a question for orphans who are usually gathered every January 11 together on Mr. Hamim Pou’s birthday,” said Merlan during the distribution of gifts to orphans through the Baznas Bone Bolango Cares (BBP) program at Al Hamim Moosalamati Islamic Boarding School in West Bulotalangi Village, East Bulango District, on Thursday (11/1/2024).
Therefore, according to Merlan, in July, all orphans in Bone Bolango Regency will receive the same gifts. Merlan emphasized that this has been programmed by himself.
For Merlan, the commemoration of Orphan Day is undoubtedly a form of the government’s love for orphans. Therefore, in the future, his administration will collect data on the total number of orphans in Bone Bolango.
“There will be accurate data on the number of orphans and orphaned children cared for in orphanages and Islamic boarding schools, including those in families or living with their families,” he concluded.
Merlan hopes that with valid orphan data, the distribution of programs for orphans can be fair and enjoyed by all orphaned children.(*)
