Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – Approaching the polling day of the 2024 General Elections, the Election Commission (KPU) of Pohuwato District continues to strive to enhance the understanding and capabilities of ad hoc body organizers in carrying out electoral tasks.
Most recently, the KPU of Pohuwato District organized a Technical Guidance (Bimtek) on the use of the ad hoc budget accountability information system (SITAB) and the collection, counting, and recapitulation of vote tally results, as well as the use of the Recapitulation Information System application (Sirekap) in the 2024 general elections for the polling station committees (PPS) at the district level, held on Monday (18/12/2023).
Commissioner of the KPU of Pohuwato District, Usman Dunda, when interviewed during the Bimtek, stated that the Bimtek is intended to introduce and solidify the understanding of ad hoc bodies in each village, particularly the PPS, in using Sirekap as a tool for tallying vote count results.
“In principle, Sirekap is a tool to assist in the recapitulation of vote count results. Through this Bimtek, we are strengthening the skills of our ad hoc friends in using it,” said the Coordinator of the Planning, Data, and Information Division.
Regarding the challenges faced by ad hoc bodies when using Sirekap on election day, especially in blank spot areas, Usman, an alumnus of STIE Ichsan Pohuwato, mentioned that there are two models of Sirekap usage, namely Online and Offline for areas without internet access.
“For blank spot areas, an offline model can be used, and the data will be uploaded automatically when the device used is connected to the internet,” he explained.
Usman stated that Sirekap also serves as a tool to bring transparency to the 2024 elections, where its use is an effort by the KPU to create professional elections and provide ease of access to information for the public.
“It means that we hide nothing, no cover-ups; transparency is part of the success of the elections,” he added. (*)
