This request was made during the opening of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Bele Li Mbui on Sunday (3/12/2023).

“What they (people with disabilities) need, for example, are ramps, accessible pathways, and dedicated parking spaces. All offices in Gorontalo Province should be prepared for this,” he said.

Acting Governor Ismail asks all heads of regional agencies to provide disability-friendly facilities in their respective offices.

This includes features like ramps accessible to wheelchair users, designated parking spaces, and special toilets.

“Gorontalo Province is now 23 years old; let’s improve the facilities needed by our brothers and sisters with disabilities,” he emphasized. “Let us together make Gorontalo a friendly and inclusive region for everyone.”

This initiative aligns with the decisions of a special meeting of the provincial DPRD (Regional People’s Representative Council) that resulted in the creation of a regional regulation (Perda) for disability-friendly facilities.

According to the Acting Governor, people with disabilities require special services and access to express their abilities. (Release)
