One of them is through the commemoration of Karawo Day in 2024 held by the Gorontalo Provincial Dekranasda on Tuesday (23/1/2024).

The event, which took place in the courtyard of the Governor’s residence, was held for the first time.

Chairperson of Dekranasda, Fima Agustina, stated that the event held in the Governor’s Residence courtyard was the first of its kind.

“This is the first time we are commemorating Karawo Day as stipulated by Gorontalo Governor Regulation Number 9 of 2014,” said Fima.

“Even in 2017, there was a Regional Regulation regulating karawo,” she added.

According to Fima, the success of the Karawo Day 2024 event is inseparable from the support of various parties.

Even the Gorontalo Provincial Government has issued a circular signed by the Acting Governor.

The circular concerns the use of karawo for officials and the entire community from January 21 to 23, 2024.

“The impact is tremendous, people are buying karawo in droves. Even karawo fabric materials have been sold out,” she revealed.

Karawo Day commemoration, she said, is expected to be a milestone for the preservation of Karawo in the coming years.

“Through this activity, we also hope that Karawo will continue to be promoted nationally and internationally in the coming years,” she added.

Dekranasda, according to Fima, will continue to make various efforts to make this Gorontalo’s unique fashion more global.

“Karawo has gone international, reaching Japan and Australia, so this must also be accompanied by quality products,” she said.
