Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – The Gorontalo Provincial Government has launched Karawo Day and the Gorontalo Karawo Carnival for the year 2024.
The inauguration, led by the Acting Governor of Gorontalo, Ismail Pakaya, took place at the Taruna Remaja Field, Gorontalo City, on Sunday (21/1/2024).
The event began with a community walk attended by the Provincial Forkopimda, heads of OPDs, civil servants, and the general public.
“As we know, Karawo is a hand embroidery product typical of Gorontalo that has existed since the 18th century,” said Ismail Pakaya.
“Therefore, the commemoration of Karawo Day is an activity that is a source of pride for the entire Gorontalo community,” Ismail continued.
He stated that Karawo has now evolved and become one of Gorontalo’s leading creative economy products.
They are continuously pushing and taking strategic steps to promote Karawo nationally and internationally.
“Together with Dekranasda and several related agencies, we are continuously promoting Karawo even to the international level,” he said.
He mentioned that Karawo Day, celebrated every January 23rd, was established through Gorontalo Governor Regulation Number 9 of 2014.
“This inauguration serves as a locomotive to promote Karawo, which has also been included in the national tourism calendar and is among the 110 Kharisma Event Nusantara,” he concluded. (Release)
