Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – The Dukcapil PMD Gorontalo Province held a Consolidation Meeting for 2024 on Thursday (1/18/2024) in Membramo.
The event, attended by Heads of Dukcapil Departments from districts and cities across Gorontalo Province, was directly opened by the Acting Head of Dukcapil PMD Gorontalo Province, Zukri Surotinojo.
Also present were the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Secretary, Head of SMA and SMK Division, and the Department of Education and Culture of Gorontalo Province.
“This consolidation meeting is important to discuss strategies and efforts in completing the recording of e-ID cards,” said Zukri in his statement.
He explained that the upcoming elections require special attention, especially regarding completing the recording of e-ID cards for students registered as first-time voters.
“Especially related to completing the recording of e-ID cards for students registered as first-time voters,” he clarified.
Zukri revealed that based on available data, there are still 1,902 students registered as first-time voters who have not recorded their e-ID cards.
These students are spread across schools in Gorontalo Province and beyond.
“The number is based on data released by the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs on January 17, 2024,” he added.
Furthermore, Zukri mentioned that there are also first-time voters outside of schools, totaling approximately 2,627 people who have not recorded.
“These are the ones I mentioned earlier that still require more maximal efforts from districts and cities to resolve,” said Zukri.
He further disclosed that the provincial government, under the leadership of the Governor of Gorontalo, is seriously concerned about this issue.
The success of organizing elections is one of the main duties as the Acting Governor.
During the meeting, Zukri also outlined the strategic efforts of the provincial government in completing the recording of e-ID cards.
“First, providing special financial assistance (BKK) to district and city governments for the procurement of e-ID card recording and printing devices through the 2023 Revised Regional Budget,” he explained.
He hoped that this equipment could assist the Dukcapil Department in carrying out the tasks of recording and printing e-ID cards.
Next, issuing instructions directed to the Principals of high schools and equivalent, as well as the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, to immediately complete the recording of e-ID cards.
“Especially for first-time voters in schools and madrasahs,” he said.
He also requested the cooperation of relevant departments to ensure the success of e-ID card recording, considering the various challenges and obstacles faced.
This includes the low awareness of students regarding the importance of identification documents and the lack of support from schools.
“We received a report from one of the district’s Dukcapil offices where one school had a target to record 78 students, but during a mobile service visit, only three students could be recorded,” he revealed.
From this report, he said, it can be learned that e-ID card recording in Gorontalo Province still needs collective attention.
Especially from the Department of Education and the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs overseeing education units directly.
“Therefore, through this meeting, we hope to produce solutions to the challenges and issues we face today,” he concluded. (*)
