Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – Iskandar Mangopa, Chairman of the Golkar Faction in the Gorontalo District DPRD, predicts that Gorontalo District is heading towards bankruptcy.

Iskandar predicts this due to what he sees as the government’s mismanagement of local finances, leading to a lack of visible development changes.

“We’re just waiting for the region to collapse. If we look, there are many demands from contractors who have completed their work 100 percent but have not received payment rights until the end of December 2023,” said Iskandar in an interview on Tuesday (23/1/2023).

Not only that, Iskandar also criticized issues regarding teacher certification payments, village fund budgets (ADD), and additional income for civil servants (ASN) which were not completed in 2023.

“We consider the government to have gone too far. These payments should not be delayed until the end of the year, especially for those who receive teacher certifications. Teacher certification is a national policy, unlike TPP and ADD,” he emphasized.

“As for ADD and TPP, they are indeed local government policies, but they have been discussed between the government and the DPRD. So where did those budgets go? Don’t just make excuses because of grants from Bawaslu and the KPU. I think this government is in disarray,” continued Iskandar.

According to him, good governance depends on how a regent leads the region. Therefore, the Gorontalo Regent, Nelson Pomalingo, must take responsibility for everything that happens. Instead of blaming others.

“The one who should take responsibility for this is the Gorontalo Regent. Don’t just blame others. This is a recurring mistake, if left unchecked, it could lead to a disaster in Gorontalo District,” emphasized the three-term legislator.

He also mentioned that currently, Members of the DPRD have received a bad reputation due to the delayed payments of ADD, TPP, and teacher certifications by the government.

Iskandar urged the government to immediately address these issues to avoid legal implications.

Everywhere, he said, they received a bad reputation. Yet, managing finances is the prerogative of the executive branch, not the legislative.

“Our duty is only to discuss and supervise, but we receive a stigma. Our hope is for attention to the people, especially teachers. What did they do wrong to the point where their rights are not paid?” concluded Iskandar.(*)
