Not only that, he also requests that the salaries of contract teachers should no longer be below IDR 1,000,000.

“At a minimum, there should be no teachers with salaries below one million. If there are any, it means that the regional coordinators, the Department of Education and Culture, including PGRI, are not paying attention to it,” emphasized Nelson Pomalingo when closing the evaluation program of the PGRI mandatory program regarding the implementation of the independent learning policy on Monday (20/11/2023) at the Swissbell Hotel Manado.

Nelson expressed that PGRI is a gathering place for teachers and educational personnel to work together in educating and improving the quality of the future for children. The presence of PGRI is expected to provide assistance to teachers in deepening their profession.

“The welfare of contract teachers must also be considered,” emphasized Nelson.

He stated that PGRI certainly carries out organizational consolidation, protects its members, encourages professionalism, and promotes the welfare of its members.

“PGRI and the Department of Education and Culture are expected to see how important the role of these teachers is. Because the spearhead in education is the teacher,” he concluded.(*)
