Hargo.co.id, GORONTALO – Gorontalo Regent Nelson Pomalingo reunited with his former teachers during the celebration of the National Teachers’ Day (HGN) in 2023 and the 78th anniversary of PGRI, held at the David-Toni sports hall on Friday (1/12/2023).
In his speech, Regent Nelson emphasized the crucial and strategic role of teachers in life, as they are the driving force behind education.
“They have played a significant role in nurturing our nation’s children, producing outstanding and intelligent individuals, including all of us,” Nelson explained.
As the declarator of Gorontalo Province, he urged everyone to express gratitude to teachers and appreciate their significant contributions.
According to him, one way to show appreciation is by paying attention to their well-being.
“For example, honorary teachers in Gorontalo District will receive a minimum wage of Rp. 1,000,000 starting next year, and all of them must have a bachelor’s degree. But, most importantly, we must protect them when issues arise,” emphasized Nelson.
Nelson Pomalingo is known to be a graduate of SDN 21 Tibawa, formerly known as SDN 3 Desa Buhu, Tibawa Subdistrict. The school witnessed his intelligence, as Nelson achieved an exceptional feat during his time there.
While still in the fourth grade, he answered almost all the sixth-grade questions, leading him to skip directly from the fourth grade to the sixth grade.
The enthusiasm of the teachers who filled the hall added vibrancy to the event.
The lively event was also attended by the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) of Gorontalo Regency, Secretary Roni Sampir, Chairperson of the PKK Gorontalo Regency Fory Armin Naway, officials from various agencies, sub-district heads throughout Gorontalo Regency, and the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) of Gorontalo Regency.(*)
