Hargo.co.id, MANADO – The Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) of Gorontalo District (Kabgor) conducted an evaluation of the mandatory implementation of the Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) policy on Sunday (19/11/2023).
The event, held at Swiss-Bel Hotel in Manado City, North Sulawesi Province, was officially opened by the Chairman of PGRI Gorontalo District, Fory Naway.
“The transformation of education through Merdeka Belajar is progressing well. However, a comprehensive evaluation of the program’s impact is necessary to ensure its realization as intended,” said Fory during his opening remarks at the event.
He explained that as a professional organization partnering with local governments, PGRI Gorontalo District has the duty to conduct an evaluation of this mandatory program.
“This is part of the activities, and the evaluation focuses on Merdeka Belajar Episode 24, specifically related to the transition from early childhood education (PAUD) to elementary school, which should be enjoyable,” he emphasized.
Fory Naway further explained that this evaluation would lead to policies, especially in branches providing input to the Education Office, which would then be collaborated with the local government.
During the occasion, Fory also revealed that, in addition to evaluating the program, PGRI is preparing for various activities, including the PGRI anniversary, National Teachers’ Day, and a congress. Fory plans to present various programs and conduct the election of the chairman during the congress.
“In the future, we will remain united in building the region, nurturing individuals, and enhancing the professionalism of teachers, including a commitment to improving the quality of students for a better future,” he concluded. (*)
